Real Time ARINC-429

Analyzer Software

WINDOWS ARINC-429 Data Analyzer software is supplied with any of the ARINC429 PC cards, thus providing a complete turn-key solution. The PC software has been designed to run on a PC running Microsoft Windows™ 98/NT4/2000 (later operating systems, including XP, will also be supported – check with YED for further information). However, YED can't guarantee functionality if the software is loaded on a non-English language PC.

The package comprises Real Time Simulation, Data Monitor, Data Recorder and Data Analyzer functions and has the following features:

  • DEDICATED SHORTCUT BUTTONS: navigation buttons are available from the main screen. Green open buttons indicate that a set-up file has been assigned to the channel and has a corresponding save icon. Yellow open buttons indicate that no set-up file has been assigned. Assignment is by clicking on the button and selecting the set-up database to be assigned. Other buttons available are for short-cuts to the transmission screen, the bus search screen, the bus monitor screen, the data acquisition screen and to the help index respectively.

  • USER DEFINABLE ENGINEERING UNITS: Allows definition of custom Engineering Unit display formats so that data can be viewed and entered in engineering units formats. Supported Data conversion formats include: Unsigned Binary, Signed Binary, Two's Compliment Binary, Binary Coded Decimal (BCD) and Discrete data (Flags). Multiple fields within a data word are possible. i.e. Discrete/Flags mixed with a Binary field within a single word.

  • REAL TIME BUS ACTIVITY: Performs Bus Activity operations. Displays any data present on any of the receive channels in Binary and Hexadecimal formats. Receive Speed is automatically detected and displayed.

  • REAL TIME MONITOR WITH ENGINEERING UNITS DISPLAY: Displays selected ARINC Labels and their associated data words. The display formats available in this mode are Binary, Hexadecimal and Engineering Units. ARINC Labels (TAGS) can be selected for display by Channel, Label, SDI and SSM.

  • REAL TIME SIMULATION: Entered data can be in Engineering units or Hexadecimal formats as previously described above. Data can be entered in Real Time. Other programmable features include variable Inter-Word-gaps (IWG - usually set to 4 bit periods), programmable intervals including different embedded rates within a major frame for all labels, programmable Parity, SSM and Data rates. Single Shot mode is also supported.

  • RAMPING: Allows transmitted label data to be configured so that data values are automatically ramped up and down during transmission. This feature is ideal for running tests where ARINC429 parameters need to be varied between defined limits in order to simulate "live data".

  • DATA ACQUISITION TO HARD DISK AND REVIEW OF RECORDED DATA: Data for capture to disk can be selected by Label and SDI prior to initiating the capture so that the size of the resultant data file size is kept to a minimum. Data record time is only limited by the available capacity of the resident hard drive.

  • POST PROCESSING: As well as presetting parameters for recording data to disk, the embedded Post Processing functions of the package allows additional selection criteria to be applied to the captured data file. Data can be selected again by Label and SDI and additionally, only 'Changing Data' can be specified so that only data that has changed in value since the last occurrence is displayed.

  • POWERFUL SEARCH TOOLS: enables quick location of specific labels. Search is by Label, SDI and SSM. Searches can also be performed where the point of interest can be specified by the occurrence of a data value. The conditions are 'Less than', 'Greater than or Equal to' a given value.

  • GOTO: Clicking on the 'Go To' button displays a dialog box from which a time within the data capture period can be selected. The time of the last captured label (in seconds) is also displayed. The display will refresh displaying data starting at the time requested for that channel.

  • SAVE FILE TO DISK: enables the captured data to be saved to disk. This data can be recalled at any time and re-displayed.

  • EXPORT TO SPREADSHEET: enables export of the captured data in a file format compatible with ExcelTM.

  • LABEL DEFINITION SEARCH & COPY: allows a search for a particular label number (in octal) within a specified labels database file and then to copy the label definition to an existing or to a new labels set-up database file.

  • ON LINE CONTEXT SENSITIVE HELP: makes this package so easy and intuitive to use, a separate User Manual isn't really necessary, but is however supplied.
