ARINC 429 to 2 Channel relay

Another converter growing in popularity is this ARINC 429 to Relay Output data converter. The ARINC 429 to Relay Output converter enables monitoring of a selected single discrete bit field within a ARINC 429 word. If the discrete field bit changes state then a relay contact will be switched.

The user can select, via the DIP switches on the PCB, the Octal Label, the SDI & SSM fields, the parity state (ODD/EVEN/NONE) and the discrete bit field, within the selected label, to be monitored. The ARINC 429 to Relay Output converter adapts automatically to high or low speed (12.5/100kHz) ARINC 429 data.

All units are designed to meet the European and US EMC regulations.

ARINC 429 to 2 Channel relay Detail

The ARINC 429 to Relay Output converter is powered from an external 28 VDC (15-72V) nominal supply with internal current and thermal (102 ºC) fuse. The inputs are opto-coupled for electrical isolation purposes.

The ARINC 429 label and discrete bit field within the label can be set up so that when this bit changes state the relay contact switches from normally open to closed contacts. The relay contact is only available as "volt-free". The operation of the relay contact can be either open or closed if the monitored bit is set. This is set up via a DIP switch on the PCB. The discrete output can switch back again once the discrete field returns to the original state.

An option is provided for the inclusion of a second relay contact to monitor a second discrete bit within the same selected ARINC 429 word. The connections for the YED/429/R1/VF2 Adapter are via a D9 filtered plug as follows:
